Uig Isle of Lewis

The Outer Hebrides archipelago is the most westerly island range in the UK, the Isle of Lewis is the largest island in the chain and situated on its western coast lies Uig. A place  where Eagles are more than pictures on postcards, where highland cattle are still born and raised out on the moors, free to roam and the pace of life hasn’t changed  for decades.

Uig is one of the jewels that form the Hebrides, boasting breathtaking mountain views and white sandy beaches that stretch for miles, its beauty is legend, but like all famous jewels, Uig has its dark side.  When the clouds are low, as rain sweeps over the mountains, when the shores are battered by Atlantic storms Uig is wild, mysterious and beautiful.  Untainted by chemicals, the air is intoxicating, clean and pure, rather like its whisky, it has weathered time, bucked trends and waited patiently to reveal itself, but will always hold surprises, secrets for another time or day.
