Experience the thrill of making New Spirit, or Single Malt Whisky from start to finish in a traditional Outer Hebridean Still.
Go back to the origins of distilling whisky, as it was in Scotland prior to tourism and technical intervention.
In winter, on an island on the edge of Europe, away from mobile phones, CCTV and the strife of work and business is a real world of creativity. Water, barley and a touch of magic.
We are offering you the opportunity to come to the Hebridean Isle of Lewis, to Abhainn Dearg Distillery and make your own New Spirit. You can take away a bottle of 'The Spirit of Lewis' new spirit, or have the choice of securing an authentic, 30 Litre (approx) hand made whisky, or wine cask!
Not only that, but you can make it in an original Outer Hebridean Still, one that was once classed as illicit! The still was donated to Abhainn Dearg and we have decided to make good use of it! Once you have been introduced to how Hebridean Whisky was made we will introduce you to the Abhainn Dearg Distillery. You will be able to get hands on experience, making New Spirit in the main distillery.
This is a rare opportunity as we can only accommodate three people at any one time, also it's the only way of guaranteeing a purchase of Abhainn Dearg New Spirit, or to leave it with us to get your own Single Malt!
Here's what we have to offer:
A three day experience at Abhainn Dearg:

Tuesday.
Uig and Abhainn Dearg Distillery.
